Robot Programming

Robot Programming

Robot programming used to include the debugging of the mechanical design of the tooling, the positioning of the equipment, the try out of new technologies, the development of software interfaces with PLC's and end effector tooling as well as the run up to a cohesive production system and only then could cycle time be assessed. If there was a problem encountered at any stage it often required a return to the design board.
Simulation removed a large amount of the physical placement and access issues where functionality has been able to be proved for some years. The remaining issues then revolve around cycle time and process. Offline programming 'OLP' has been around for many years and can yield good results for individual robots, unfortunately the results have often been undermined by several issues, such as operators that do not understand robot motion, incorrect alignment and then online-only robot programmers that do not want it to succeed as it could be seen to make them redundant and these have been given the task of proving the viability of these programs.
MetroCAD retain many years experience in the industry, have fine tuned and developed their methodology using the latest technology and software to keep expensive production downtime and damage to a minimum. At the same time improving quality, accuracy together with accountability.
We remain able to offer clients programming by the hour as in the past but would always recommend a client lets MetroCAD assume total responsibility from mechanical design study stages to complete programs running in production all incorporated into one turnkey contract.
